Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

Yes. 

  • If you cancel your placement more than 90 days prior to the commencement date of your placement, we will refund any fees you have paid us less R1500 to cover some of the costs we have incurred on your behalf in arranging your placement, but you will not owe us any further fees.
  • If you cancel your placement between 30 - 90 days prior to the commencement date of your placement, we will keep your full deposit to cover the costs we have incurred on your behalf in arranging your placement.
  • If you cancel your placement less than 30 days prior to the commencement date of your placement, we will keep your full deposit and 50% of your balance to cover the costs we have incurred on your behalf in arranging your placement.
  • If you cancel your placement after you've already joined your selected project, we will keep your full payment to cover the costs we have incurred on your behalf, and you will receive no refund for any of the services that you no longer require.
  • If you decide to switch projects after you joined your selected project, you will receive no refund from the project that you are currently on, and you will have to pay the new project fee as well as an admin fee before we can arrange your placement at the new project.

We will keep a portion of your fee as set out above because we will need to try to find a suitable replacement volunteer to carry out your cancelled placement, and the less time left until the placement is due to start, the more expense and difficulty we will have in locating a suitable alternative volunteer. Alternatively we may decide to make a financial or other contribution to the relevant organisation to compensate them. Notice of cancellation only takes effect when received by us in writing/email.
