Frequently Asked QuestionsHow do I get around?
Conveniently, we have a MyCiti Bus Stop just across the road from AVIVA House. This is very popular with all volunteers as, for only R10 per trip (approx 80p, €0.90, or $1.30), it provides very cheap, safe and reliable transport to Cape Town and the V&A Waterfront area. You can find out more about the MyCiti Bus here if you like:
In the city itself, the best form of transport is you. Cape Town is a great place to explore on foot. Take a break for lunch in the Company Gardens, watch the world go by from a street side cafe or beachfront bar. Whatever route you choose there is always something to see and do.
Car hire is also great value in Cape Town with prices ranging from R200-300 per day - often a great option for groups of volunteers that want to take a short trip or explore beyond the local area during their stay.
Most car hire companies stipulate a minimum age limit of 23 years, although there are some that have a minimum age of 19. Foreign photo-id licences printed in English are valid for up to 6 months, failing that you will need to obtain an international drivers licence prior to arrival. We can recommend car rental companies to you at anytime, please just ask.
